Things You Need to Know about Indoor Illumination

By Nomon 07/18

Many of us are beneficiaries of living and working in places where indoor illumination has been paid lots of attention and well distributed. It not only helps us to be more positive and productive (a lot of research shows the benefits for our both mental and physical health), but also important to highlight some certain space.

Today in our blog, we are going to talk about several tips to improve illumination at your home or office.

1. Attention to the color of your furniture

If the main decoration color tone of kitchen, for example, furniture and decoration accessories are based on a light color tone, you are bringing some certain illumination to the place. You just need to strengthen the illumination with one or some “supporting light”; An adorable table lamp that can add a bit of warm feeling to the place. On the contrary, if our furniture has a dark tone color, such like wood material or marble, then some illuminate support must be considered in different places of kitchen. 2. Check the light that proportion your light bulbs.

Sometimes, light bulbs provide too much indoor illumination than we really need. Apart from checking how much does your light bulb consume (saving is also an important factor), another thing that you need to revise is the power. Ask yourself what kind of illumination you need and how do you what to feel when you sit on sofa in your living room. Your feeling will guide you to find what you are looking for.  See this image below from New York interior designer Maxine Shriber which perfectly appreciates the balance between warm atmosphere and privacy.

3. Customized illumination to stand out one decorative element.

Are you an art lover and would you like to highlighting some of your picture collection in living room? Create a exclusive light for it. This tip could also apply on a piece of furniture, but it is not that common. On the other hand, we would like to mention shadow as well which could be a strong alliance if you want to add a touch of privacy to your room with the help of candles. 4. What about the natural light? One must have of everywhere.

As we have mentioned some advantages of living and working in illuminate space in the beginning of this post, natural light will multiple all these benefits that exist. Any window or skylight will bring naturalness and indoor illumination in a very organic way that can generate an entirely different atmosphere compared to night time. This project from British interior designer Fiona Barrat is a very accurate example of how a skylight brings natural feeling to the room.
